SHERPA, TO FIGHT ILLICIT FINANCIAL FLOWS
Sherpa is a French NGO created in 2001. Its mission is to fight against the new forms of impunity born out of the globalisation of financial and economic exchange.

The association brings together legal experts and lawyers from diverse backgrounds and works closely with civil society organisations around the world.
Sherpa is working to establish a binding legal framework to foster corporate responsibility amongst key economic players, in particular those transnational companies that violate human rights and cause environmental damage.

Sherpa is also at the forefront of the struggle against illicit financial flows. To this end, Sherpa launched the ‘Biens mal acquis’ (ill-gotten gains) case in 2007 by suing officials of countries accused of embezzlement of state assets.

Sherpa focuses on various African countries such as the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, etc.

In 2015 and in 2016, the Fondation pour l’Egalité des Chances en Afrique contributed to Sherpa’s operational budget for the whole year.
